My weekend horribilus!!!

Yes, you know me. Yes, I know this is the first time your visiting here, but I still say that you know me. & no, I’m not going to make your job easier by telling you just how you happen know me. Ok, I’ll tell you that I’m the guy who experimented with his hair (you should’ve read about it all on some blog somewhere)-yes, the blues, reds, perm et al. (isn’t that as good as telling you my name?!). This will be the new blog. & yes, I know you’re confused as you don’t remember a Mohammad Saeed, but that’s what I’m going to be-from now on. You may link me, but only after a week,& either with the blog title (What ever may come…), or my (brand new) name (Mohammad Saeed). I say after a week, coz I need the lapse to enforce this bout of anonymity/paranoia…(& please, just make the mental-connection, do not attempt to write/ask me if I really am ****.Thank you for bearing with me…& now, dear reader, you may proceed to read the post…

Ok. I was kinda down & needed cheering up in my last post at that other place. That was on Friday. All hell broke loose later that day…

My flatmate dragged himself home, covered in bladesof some new, unfamiliar species of grass (would the word species be correct there?lemme know,ya?!). I didn’t notic his gash/wound then. But he looked hurt, tired, & was in a lot of pain. Deja vu, anyone? If you had been following my life/blog regularly (last year december) then you’d remember me writing the same stuff back then…(back then, my then roomie,in a drunken drawl, tried to be a peeping tom & fell off a ledge & fractured his lower spine). Well, this time its my flatmate who fractured his lower spine in a fatalfall (NO-he doesnt drink). So since friday night, I’ve had to deal with that-well, his condition was diagnosed saturday morn(the horrid saturday). (people,if you live where I live-a suburb in this popular region, down under, then please make sure you never fall sick/need tosee a doc after hours- in my vicinity, there was no 24-hour pharmacy/chemist/doc available!).Ok, back to the story. So yeah, that same saturday, I was involved in my first ever (& hopefully last) car accident. Relax, I’m fine. We (flatmate’s friend & I/myself) were heading to the hospital with my flatmate, & at these traffic lights, there was this huge trailer (the ones that carry uge shipping containers) that was in the lane on our right but wanted to turn left, while we wanted to go straight. Yes, our driver was a new driver, so he didn’trealise that he must step on the gas, or the trailer will cut left, won’t see us, & will crush us…Well, the trailer cut left, right into our little car, kept dragging our car, until my hurt flatmate yelled to horn asap & as much as we cud, so thats what we did until the driver of the trailer heard it/saw the expression of horror on faces in the street, & stopped. & we finally turned & sped away to the hispital. I shudder when I think of how our car had been dragged, near the metal fence road divider-if our car had reached the divider, then it wouldn’t have been able to be pushed further, & that uge trailer would have made sheesh kebaab out of our car (with all 3 of us still strapped in). & Allah ka shukar hai our car didn’t overturn…I was just paralysed with fear, staring at the huge bumber/grill pushing its way into our car (on the driver’s side)…

Now with all this happenning on that fateful saturday, you must also remember that I mentioned that my mate from this other city was coming to stay over at my place, alongwith his friend who was flying in from a middle-eastern destination. So after staying with my flatmate until as late as I cud, I rushed to the airport. Poeple, if you have to pick up to people on the same day, one touching down at the domestic terminal, with the other landing at the international terminal, please make sure that they’re not booked on flights that land simultaneously!Yes, I speak from experience. So I picked up my mate from the domestic terminal, & then we rished to the international terminal. Now I must mention here that my mate’s luggage took quite a while to reach us on that conveyor belt….& then we had to take the bus to get to the international terminal.Things couldn’t possibly go wrong, huh? But they did!The bus we boarded, didn’t stop at the international terminal! When I realised that we’re not going anywhere near the international terminal, I asked the driver, & the guy just confirmed my fear…Apparently, the guy who told us to board this bus (that nitwit-why’s he on the job?), messed things up. So we finally reached the international terminal, but quite late. We didn’t see any sign of my mate’s friend, so we approached the customs officers, who told us that some people are still busy with immigration. We waited. & we wauted some more. Approached the officers again, who told us, this time, that theres just one guy held up with the immigration/quarantine authorities, & that’s prolly our guy! We couldn’t do much. After a while, when said guy made his way out of the terminal, & didn’t even faintly resemble our guy, we approached the authorities again, & gave our guy’s name, & were told that his name was not on the passenger list! So, our guy hadn’t arrived on that plane! My mate couldn’t contact his pal over the fone, so after a while, we made our way home. It started to rain, & my mate’s suede jacket got wet…reached home, called it a night.

Sunday, I went to the hospital, & my flatmate told me he needs to use the internet-it just HAD to be done-something to do with work. So I spent the day looking for ways for him to be able to connect a GPRS cell fone to my laptop, & access the neton my comp. We didn’t have a gprs fone between us. So we managed to borrow a friend’s. Now I’m no IT geek. I approach my IT-smart friends for my slightest troubles…& then unintelligent shopkeepers/sales persons give me hell. Have of them tell me it can be done, with the other half telling me it can’t be done (atleast not with the fone I planned to use). & yes, Ialso had togotothe airport to pick up visiting mate’s friend who didn’t make it on the flight the previous night. Yup, we picked him up, & I continued downloading drivers- the usb cable driver (DKU-5) & the nokia modem driver. Now for some reason, the CD that came with the cable that I bought, didn’t seem to work-the rest of the stuff on the disk worked fine, but the driver that I wanted to use, didn’t work. I found it on the net, installed it, but it somehow still didn’t read the fone when I hooked it up! & when I downloaded the modem driver, it was an INF file, & opened up in notepad-needless to say, I couldn’t for the lfe of me, install it or make it work. The techie (yup, down under, everything ends with an “ie”) guys told me they’d open up at 6 am the next morning (monday), which happened to be the standard time on the west coast-I’m on the east coast! So by night time, I was SO stressed, had had enough.

Yes, flatmate managed to make it work (today), but not before I made 2 trips between home & hospital. His doctors were surprised when they say his breakfast tray laden with 2 laptops, papers, & stuff!!! So the mobile internet thing apparently is very slow, & even more expensive!!! After that, I rushed to the city to meet my visiting friend & his pal, for some touristing-around. Right now, its a little past 10pm, they’re tucked in bed, but that really strong turkish coffee is keeping me awake-& I haven’t slept properly in the last 3 nights!

& no, this isn’t all yet, I know there’s more shit waiting to happen-I’m just surprised the guy hasn’t contacted me yet…AAAAAARRGGHHH!!!!!!

Like this friend said to me “What doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger!”
