The Turkey weekend…

This was written alot earlier, was waiting forsome fotos, which is why I’mputting it up today.

The Thanksgiving weekend that passed was, well, ok, I guess. Want an account?
Well, Since it was the first weekend after my exams, I wanted to partay! But…sigh…

Was supposed to meet up this friend around 12:30 on Saturday. I reach Uni at 12:20. While I was on my way, he texted me that he’ll be there by 1:00. At 1:15, I get another text that he just woke up, so he’ll be there in another 15. & I waited…& waited…& finally, left Uni at 2:15. Now you peopleprolly know how much of an out-doorsy person I am, & to waste over 2 hours sitting INSIDE Uni on a day with gorgeous weather…grrrrr!& so I had walked quite a distance, when he texts me, “where are you?” So I text him as to where he should meet me now that I’m not at Uni…He wants me back at Uni coz we’re supposed to meet another of his friends there who isn’t there yet…so, I blow my top off- I tell him that I’m fine alone, he can chill with his mate. He says, fine, be there, I’m coming…Now I’d given him another point of reference, so now I rush there coz he said he was coming. I get there panting. Stupid me. So after a while, I call him up & ask, umm, dude, your text didn’t exactly say just about when you would be coming. He laughs, & says ok, he’s coming. Sigh. Finally, after a while he shows up, with an amreekistani kudi in tow-& no, this was not the friend he wanted to wait for. So we hang around. Meet his pal later. More hanging around. Or, walking/loitering around. Then we head off to Pizza Hut for lunch. Imagine! All the free pizzas/garlic bread/pepsi, that I enjoyed in the comfort of my home (thanx to flatmate who delivers for them), now I had to pay $16 for a buffet!Saari qasar ek hi din mein poori ho gayi!

Ended up staying with them until 11 something then headed homeward. Oh, & that was the first afro-american I’d ever met. Quite an experience. I mean, until now I’d only ever seen afro-americans on the telly, all those old comedy shows. lol. We talked all day.(my pal even has fotos & video clips of the way I was listening to her/engrossed in the conversation-lol). & on sunday, it rained all day-I got to run out of home at 6 pm.Came home by 9-but not before a burger & machiato at the harbor-lol!

OH!I forgot to mention that we saw more of the Superman filmshoot-& this time ’round, my friend had a camera on him!So we got pics!Which is why this post has been delayed. Coz I’ve been waiting for him to send me the pix. Which doesn’t seem to be happening. I should’ve known. Never, I say NEVER depend on people for ANYTHING. people just aren’t dependable anymore. I’m disgusted. & dissapointed. & mad. & disillusioned. Did I mention I was mad as well?!

So yet again I’ve decided that I don’t need people to hang out with. I don’t. Really. I’ve suffered enough. But it keeps happening to me all the time. & with new people even. Is it just me, or are people really so horrible?! See?this is why I feel it might be different if I was in a relationship. Sure, I might have had to wait even then (more even?!lol) But atleast then I could complain, uspe haq to jata sakta?! I who knows, I might not get sopeeved having to wait for her?! Or like my mate M would’ve said, ” Dil behlane ke liye, ghalib, khayal achha hai…”! Ok, so I might have got it alittle wrong, but you get what I’m trying to say, right?!

So I like reading…Don’t get’round to reading much (hell, the last I read for pleasure was Dan Brown…4 of his books, early this year, yeah, long time!)

So the other day, I finally read this novellawritten by this blogger Dude. For a first short novel, I think its a good effort. Give it a read, huh?!

Ok, I’m kinda down, & its evident in the above…lol! Infact, this is so not the way I wanted to write about his novel…Look- the weekend didn’t go as I wanted it to-hell, nothing does, I’m down with a cold for the umpteenth time recently,& its been raining non-stop & it sure don’t look like it be stoppin anytime soon, so grouchy ol’me’s stuck at home…So umm, instead of hearing me ramble, go on & read that short novel! & I’ll be back with Superman filmshoot pics in my next post!yay!lol!

Edit*Just when I finished posting that, for some reason (me & my big mouth), the net died on me…

I want my turkey!

So the exams are over…& I’m chillin at home-coz everyone else’s aren’t. oh, pshaw!
& this time’round, I really want to have [a halal] cornbread (over) stuffed (golden baked) turkey with cranberry sauce & everything else (without the wines, ofcourse), that constitutes an amreekistani thanksgiving dinner. Coz I’ve never had one. Trouble is, I don’t know of anyplace here where I could get a halal thanksgiving style dinner… the Hilton apparently serves halal food on request, but then I don’t think I’ll be thankful enough if I went there…

Oh, have a delicious thanksgiving, ya’all! & think of me while you carve that turkey…lol!
