News?bah humbug!
I don’t understand what’s wrong with the news here. You guys prolly don’t remember, but long ago I’d put up a post (on the old blog maybe) where I pointed out at the wierd news in the papers here (stroller with baby flying in gale force winds, etc etc-& that wasn’t even the wierd news section!). Well, over the past coupla days, the papers have been publishing such news that I wonder as to why I even bother to read’em!
First we had pages & pages of articles on Schapelle Corby, (gawd, she has her own forum even!) who was caught in bali with 4kgs(i think?) of drugs in her surf board bag, & was subsequently given a life sentence. Then ofcourse, there’s the bali 9 (you weren’t going to check all the links anyway). Then there was Michelle Leslie (underwear model caught in Bali with 2 ecstasy pills-rumoured to be with sons of powerful people, wore burqa during trials, claimed to have converted, but was back to wearing revealing outfits the moment she was released after 3 months in prison…). There used to be so many articles on her case on the online editions of the local papers every single day! & then there was Van Tuong Nguyen. He was caught in Singapore with 400grams of heroin & was recently executed. You shoulda seen all those articles on him in the papers every day!upto 4 stories on this 1 guy in 1 day(I kid you not -now just where did I pick that up?lol)!& you know what was more outrageous??All the stories were about how a poor(innocent like) australian was going to be hanged…!!!They were portraying him as a wronged hero!Singaporean authorities said they couldn’t spare/parole/pardon him because of the amount of drugs he was caught with!& the australian papers never mentioned what would happen to all those australians would would consume that 400grams of heroin…!They were busy making a hero out of him!You just had to read/see the coverage & you be sick at just what they’re making out of a drug smuggling convict!
& you want to know what the hottest story in today’s paper was??That a major bank has issued guidelines as to the dress/grooming for its employees! Guidelines relating to appropriate underwear,stockings, brows/nose hair/ear hair, sideburns, men’s socks, etc. You should read the comments that readers have responded with, to the whole controversy!
Why do I even bother to read the paper here?!Seriously!
